Canvassing Board Meeting
January 29, 2008

Municipal Elections
Present were: County Judge Mike Murphy, Chair; County Commissioner Tiffany Moore Russell; Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles; Ed Chew, Asst. Orange County Attorney; Woody Rodriguez; Counsel for the SOE; Margaret Dunn, Recording Secretary; Monica Ijeoma, Recording Secretary and members of the public.
The meeting was called to order at 5:37 p.m. Introductions were made. The chairman and board members reviewed the legal ad.
The first order of business was to review the minutes from January 28, 2008. Motion to accept was made by Bill Cowles and seconded by Tiffany Moore Russell. Unanimous approval.
The next order of business was to canvass the absentee ballots received on January 29, 2008. The decisions made by the Canvassing Board are listed on the attached sheets.
Bill Cowles briefly explained that there were 24 HAVA ballots to be canvassed and, because of the law, these ballots cannot be canvassed until 7:00 p.m.
A motion was made by Tiffany Moore Russell and seconded by Bill Cowles to recess until 7:00 p.m. when the polls close to canvass the remaining ballots.
The board reconvened at 7:19. Bill Cowles motioned and seconded by Tiffany Moore Russell to reject the 24 HAVA ballots due to voters’ failure to provide id. List attached.
The canvassing board recessed at 7:30.
The board reconvened at 10:00 p. m. to sign off on the post tabulation L&A.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:13.
