Voting Equipment Used in Orange County

Orange County has a blended system. Both optical scan and touch-screen devices are used at early voting and in the polling places.  Paper ballots have ovals.

The new DS 200 optical scan machines, manufactured by Election Systems & Software (ES&S), use a paper ballot with ovals next to the selections. The new DS 200
 

 

A touch-screen machine is available for voters with disabilities and it is also manufactured by ES&S.  Voters make selections and have a final review before casting a vote. The touch-screen machine is equipped with headphones and an audio ballot for those who are vision impaired.
